What is an XER file?

An .xer file is the export format of Oracle Primavera P6. It holds one or more projects as plain-text tables: the projects, the WBS, calendars, activities with their dates, durations and float, and the relationships between activities. Contractors send one with each schedule update, so the people who review the update can see the same schedule without a P6 licence.

How do I export an XER from P6?

In P6 Professional choose File > Export, pick Primavera PM - (XER), select the projects and save the file. Then open it on this page.

Is my schedule uploaded?

No. The page reads the file on your computer, in your browser. Nothing is sent to a server, so you can open confidential schedules.

What does the health check show?

It runs the DCMA 14-point assessment: missing logic, leads and lags, hard constraints, high and negative float, long durations, invalid dates and, when the file has a baseline, missed tasks and the baseline execution index.

Every logic, duration, float and date change since the last update and the baseline, in the browser, without Claim Digger. The UFGS / FDOT review checklist filled in, and a draft narrative for the owner: what moved, why the finish date changed, whose activities are affected.
